NSCC Annual Family Picnic
NSCC members and their families enjoyed burgers, brats, hot dogs and an abundance of side dishes and deserts on Saturday August 13 at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Palatine. The kids enjoyed smashing a Corvette piñata filled with candy while some of the adults got a little wet with the water balloon toss. You can see all the pictures by clicking here.
One-Day Autocross at the Tire Rack
The one-day autocross at the Tire Rack in South Bend, Indiana on July 31 lived up to it's name, Summer Fun. It was a picture-perfect day with 14 drivers competing for driver points and bragging rights. A total of 12 runs with a mix of Corvettes and "metal" cars left a plentiful amount of rubber on the track for the next group.
The next autocross is scheduled for Saturday September 24 at the Tire Rack.
THE VETERAN'S CARSHOW WAS GREAT!
Clear blue skies, lovely white puffy clouds, a breeze off the lake...70's...a perfect combination for a perfect car show...NSCC made itself proud once again with 22 registered Corvettes attending the 13th annual VA Car Show at the Captain James A Lovell Federal Care Center in North Chicago. A total of 36 club members showed up and it was fun to see some former members as well including Sandy Morrison and Bill & Donna Harding. We had a very impressive Corvette Corral!
There were a total of 219 beautiful cars of all ages, colors, brands and specialties for us to walk around and admire. In addition, we were offered a great lunch with hotdogs, brats, chili, chips and beverages.
For most of us, the most meaningful part of the day was thanking the many Veterans who came out of the facility to see our cars...the most we've ever seen...a real privilege for us.
Thanks for supporting the Veterans!
Ed and Barb Harms
Thirty-five NSCC members came out to support the Special Olympics fundraiser sponsored by the Kildeer Police Department and Neumann's Cigar store in Long Grove on Sunday July 10. NSCC had 18 registered entries which is 17% of the entire car show...way to support a great cause!
